Overview

The first professional institute established in 2008-09 in Adamas Knowledge City is the Engineering College called Adamas Institute of Technology. The Institute is approved by All India Council for Technical Education and is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology. The Institute imparts Bachelor of Technology courses in the streams of Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology. Two more streams viz., Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering are proposed to be introduced from the year 2010-11. Another stream is expected in 2011-12. The teaching faculty is a mix of senior teachers with high academic and industrial experience and the younger ones brimming with energy and brilliance. The Institute is headed by Prof. Abhijit Mukherji who is nationally recognised as an erudite Engineer with multidisciplinary academic background and deep exposure of industry, education and research.

The Institute has come up with huge infrastructure covering 3.5 lacs square feet of built-up area consisting of the Administrative Block, five Academic Blocks, a Central Workshop, one Girls’ Hostel and two Boys’ Hostel. The Administrative Block aims to house state-of-the-art infrastructure consisting of a Language Laboratory, an EDUSAT Centre, a Conference Room, a Seminar Room with Video Conferencing facilities and a large Meeting Hall. The Academic Blocks have class rooms, laboratories and other facilities having big spaces and areas. A Central Workshop is being constructed with a built up area of 12000 square feet.

The Institute aims to grow both horizontally and vertically with higher courses in post graduation and research. Simultaneously, the quality infrastructure as available may be better harnessed with introduction of multiple shifts in future.

Teaching- Learning Process
It follows the chalk and talk as well as the audio-visual method.

Assessment of students’ performance
The Institute follows the continuous evaluation system based on various techniques.

Assessment by Students
At the end of the session each year the Institute asks for a confidential report from every student indicating his assessment of the performance of teachers, efficiency of management of the institution and also the facilities available at the Institute.

Grievance Redressal
There is a Grievance Cell operating under the jurisdiction of the Registrar. Whenever any grievance is formally lodged, it is looked into and settled by the Principal along with the Registrar and the Proctor.
